The Delhi High Court took suo motu cognizance of the fire that broke out in a building in Mukherjee Nagar in which a coaching institute was being run on Thursday and issued a notice on Friday seeking a response from the Delhi Fire Service and the Delhi Police.
A bench comprising Justice Jasmeet Singh and Justice Vikas Mahajan, while taking cognizance of the intelligence report, also asked the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to look into the approved building plans of such institutes and asked the Delhi Fire Service and the Delhi Police to submit an application.
The Supreme Court ordered the matter to be placed before a bench headed by the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court on July 3.

Reports said that 61 students were taken to various hospitals and later 50 students were discharged from various hospitals and rest of the students are undergoing treatment.
According to police, there were 250 students attending classes at the coaching institute at the time of the fire. Officials said the fire started from a meter board in the building. Several students also sustained injuries while climbing down from the building using ropes.
Reports on Friday said the police arrested the operators of two coaching institutes in connection with Thursday's fire and later released them on bail.
